The facility currently consists of 5 buildings. The fireman's residence with lighthouse, the Machine House, the Assistant's residence, the Outhouse and the Ingermanland building. All the houses and the outdoor area have a high degree of accessibility.
The lighthouse is part of the experience offer in the "National Tourist Road Jæren".
Kvassheim lighthouse. The facility currently consists of 5 buildings. All the houses and the outdoor area have a high degree of accessibility. The open-air bonfire Kvassheim is part of the experience offer in the "National Tourist Road Jæren". It is one of three centers in Visitor Center Våtmark Jæren. Architects for the rehabilitation of the buildings are Helge Schjelderup AS and Arkitektkontoret schjelderup & gram.
The machine house. Here you will find what we call the hot room or the café. Here you can come in and find shelter and a view. You can bring your packed lunch inside, or you can buy turblings, hot skeva (toast), coffee, soft drinks and ice cream in the cafe. See opening hours. Assistant residence. Accommodation offer for 8 -12 people. The outbuilding is part of the accommodation offer and is the extra room you get when you choose to rent to 12 people. More about renting for accommodation - Utleie Assistentboligen
The lighthouse keeper's home. Exhibitions on all floors, the building is accessible by lift. On the 1st floor, you will find an exhibition about rescue history and a bit about life at Kvassheim lighthouse. The Elias boat is at the pier, ready to receive crew. On the 2nd floor, Besøkssenter Våtmark Jæren has an exhibition about wetlands, with birds as the main theme. You will also find a bit about archeology around the lighthouse. You can climb further up the old lighthouse, this is not wheelchair accessible, but the windows on the 2nd floor offer a great view of the area. The building is open together at tha same time as the machine house.
Ingermanland building. Hå municipality has set up the building that houses the gig from the large Russian liner Ingermanland which, after a long battle against the storm, sank off Haarr. Here you can read about the dramatic shipwreck. The building is open together at tha same time as the machine house.
Access: Kvassheim lighthouse is located on the coast in the south of Hå municipality, between Vigrestad and Brusand. Follow RV 44 from Sandnes (approx. 45 km) or Egersund 25 km. The National Tourist Route Jæren has the signposted lighthouse with a point of interest symbol. Parking HC - inside the yard at the lighthouse.
